H front pulley nut

Can u tell me what a front pulley on an H is? I have a 48, and my dad had a 48. My uncle had a 41. The only pulleys ive ever seen on them are on the R side.

O the V belt pulley. I can picture it, and I would say 5/8ths, 11/16ths. Its 10 30 and Im not going to be able to see it tonight.

Are you saying the bolt head is bigger than 1-9/16"? I wouldn't think they would used anything bigger than a 3/4" bolt which probably has a 1-1/8" hex head. Hal

Thanks

Can't say for sure without going out to the shop and measuring one, but I think it's over 2". It's also got a bend over locking tab on it, and you've got to get that tab out of the way first.

He never said anything about a bolt, or the head of a bolt. He is talking about the BIG nut that threads onto the exposed end of the crankshaft and holds the dampener pulley in place.

I know the nut on an M is a 2-1/2" hex. The H most likely is several 8th's smaller.

The good news is that the nut is thin. After bending out the locking tab it should turn off easily.

That sounds right for the M. I've got two H engines torn down out in the shop, and all of the various parts are sorted and placed in containers so I won't lose anything. I've been out to the shop three times now since I read this thread earlier today, but do you think I can find the container that has the big nut in it?
