Steering unhooked on an H

Was backing the planter up to the shed through the mud, wheels turned hard left & using brakes to help steer. All the sudden the steering wheel wasn"t connected to the ft wheels anymore, just had a bumping feel. Got the wife & the skidloader, pulled the wheels straight while she steered, seemed to reconnect itself ok. How bad is this likely messed up in the steering gears???

There are stop bolts on the lower bolster that are probably missing, which let you turn past the sector gear. I would not think you hurt anything.

There should be 2 normal bolts and 2 stop bolts. It makes sense if you look up into the lower unit.

There's ONE extended head stop bolt. It goes in the right front hole of the pivot shaft flange.

Properly installed the stop bolt head fits loosely a crescent-shaped slot cast into the underside of the fixed bolster and limits the left/right rotation of the pivot shaft.

If you peek up under the right front of the tractor you will see the slot.

Incidentally disengaging the steering by going beyond the normal rotation will not damage the steering mechanism in any way!
