Help!! We forgot! When starting a WD6 on gas should the starting selector lever be up or down?
Darn. Isn't getting old great!!!

John - Usually the starter has trouble rolling a cold engine with the decompression lever in "diesel" (run) position.

So try cranking the engine. If it only goes a half revolution and stops, the lever's in the "diesel" position. Flipping the lever other way will have it in "gas" (starting) position.

if it is the same as mine both levers need to be down to start on gas--i then put the deisel lever on the right up 3-4 inches and throw the left lever up and we are up on deisel -- good old tractor

50 years ago, I remember the WD9 starting. As a matter of fact , I even have the operating book for it. It says to move the compression lever (left) down to the gas starting position. Position the engine speed control lever (right)down to the starting position. If equipped with electric start, start on gas and let it run on gas for about a minute making sure that the oil pressure is up. Push the compression lever all the way up to run on diesel. Move the engine speed control lever up to prevent stalling I will be happy to copy the procedure and post it right out of the book.
