Hi B, hoped you lined up the timing marks and scribed everything as you should not have removed or even loosened the 3 cap screws on the pump drive gear. All that was required was to remove the big nut on the pump drive shaft. The pump drive shaft is a tapered shaft with a woodruff key in the pump drive gear. The approved method to remove the pump drive gear from the drive shaft is a special puller tool from IH. I screw the big nut off the drive shaft, put a piece of hardwood against the end of the shaft and give it a sharp tap with a hammer. Be careful not to damage the threads on the drive shaft. Also leave one of the nuts on the pump mounting bolts screwed on a couple turns so when you tap the drive shaft the pump doesn't go flying out onto the ground.
