Pressure washer opinions

Well, my buddy sold his steam jenny, so I can't borrow that anymore. Was thinking about buying a pressure washer to prep/clean transmission case, tourque tubes, engines etc. for wire brush and paint.

Anyone had any luck? The steam jenny was the absolute best, but I cannot afford to purchase a new one of those.

I have a northern gas/diesel unit. I like how the diesel and gas tanks
are on top of the unit. The pump and engine have given me no
trouble, but I have had the burner unit not work right a couple of
times and had it serviced.

I got the diesel heater so I did not have to drag a 240V cord around
to use the heater.

I have 2 types, the one with a gas motor that you hook up a hose to, and one, what we call a steam cleaner. The gas one I picked up at Lowes for about 125 bucks on sale, and works good for light grease and oil and dirt, depending on what tip I use. The steam cleaner came from Grainger some 15 or 20 years ago, and it a Dayton. Can use kerosene or diesel. Its suppose to run off of a tank for the water, but I adated a hose hookup to it. It works very well once it gets hot, works grat on caked on grease and dirt. I dont what its being sold for now, but it cost like 500 back then.

Put an inline filter on whatever you buy, dirt and grit is what kills the pump. I bought a Brute 2200psi from wal mart 5 or 6 years ago and it works pretty darn good
