Has anyone ever posted a "before" and "after" picture of what the shifter lever bottom end looks like before welding it to the correct 2-gears locking together while shifting ?

An after welding picture ?

I've searched and saved every pertinant thread, including some of Hugh's and Janicholson, but didn't come across what a properly welded & shaped end should look like.

I've seen Jim recommend a stick and a pocket knife before. Use the stick as a mock up and then weld and grind your shifter accordingly.
The H one can't be too different than any other letter series model. All their transmissions are built using the same style. You can always easily redo the project if it is too big or too small.

The Stick idea uses a soft wood stick to mimic the tip in gears and Neutral. The resulting shape can tighten the travel in worn rails. Just file/grind to be free in action. Jim

Janicholson, is the H pattern in the picture - link below also accurate for a A, SA, 100 pattern ?

no the smaller series use almost a ball end, the stick whittled to fit well is (opinion) best in this case. They are not similar. Jim
