mounted plow

I had to install a after-market 3-point itch on my H, connect it to the belly-pump, then buy a 3-point 2-bottom plow, thewn figure out how to brace it so it didn't pull all the way over to the left. But it'll all work, and work pretty slick.

I am very interested in this information as well if anyone has any. Guy not to far from me has an IH 2-bottom mounted plow he said came off an H. Going to see if I can't take it off his hands becasue I have never seen one before. Thanks for any help/info!

Hes not wanting to know about three point plows. He wants to know about the plows mounting to the frame of the tractor. And from the literature ive seen there were one bottoms, in one way and two way versions. Ive been told they were popular in irrigated land

If you have to brace it you are wasting a lot of energy and pulling power on side draft. That is typical of many of the shop-built aftermarket hitches. The guys building them don't have the slightest idea of how a 3-point is supposed to work and they mess up the draft. They are probably OK for a post hole digger or a platform carrier, and maybe good enough to get along with a rear blade. But they are usually no good for any real tillage work.

(quoted from post at 16:53:14 04/21/11) yes, i want info on a international plow that is suppose to mount on the frame of the tractor, and how it would work, thanks rod

Search is your friend. There was a post last week that covered this topic with pictures and everything.

Some time ago I posted a couple of photos of the H-190 plow fitted to my H in the Galleries section. By mistake I posted it under Tractor Photos instead of Implements.
Enter H-190 Plow in the Search Box and they should come up.
There was also a Two Way plow with a similar setup.

I think you're talking about this thread:

However, that is a DISK plow.

There are also conventional mounted moldboard plows. If anyone's got a copy of the 150 Years of International Harvester by CH Wendel, I'm pretty sure there are a few pictures in that book.

In this day and age, the odds of finding one of those plows, COMPLETE, is very slim. If you do find one, grab it.

H-189 shows a moldboard.

JIm Becker - Back in the day when I had to "poor-boy" it all I could afford was an old H, an old used JD plow and a new 3-point hitch from a local manufacturer. It took me all summer trying to plow the gardern, yanking that H over to the left, swaying the plow hard to the left. I had to lay on the gruond behind that mess and study it all summer long, and I finally realized how plows were designed; they are supposed to cut a perfect right-angle furrow, in all 3 axes. I adjusted the top-link so it cut perfectly level, and didn't dive in or pull up, I adjusted both bottoms so they cut equal depths, and I invented a turn-buckle "brace" to haul the assembly exactly 14" over to the right, 14" from the right tire, and hold it there. Works perfectly, and I see how it is all designed.

If the hitch is working properly, you would have no need for the turnbuckle brace to pull the plow sideways. You have never seen anything like it to pulll a plow sideways installed on a factory 3-point system.
