656 Gasoline

I have a 656 International Standard gear drive with a 282 diesel and would like to change it over to gasoline. What engines did IH make that will fit in there ???

C221 (460) C263 (656) C263/291 (706) C301 (806) these will all fit and are the same block externally. what is wrong with the diesel?? the gassers are decent motors but guzzle gas like no other!! I had a 656 with a 301 in it out of a 715 combine...couldnt tell much difference in power because it had the old carb on it.

My cylinder head is cracked on the diesel engine. With the emissions regulations we have in California the gas engine would be excempt with no restrictions of use. Would the larger combine engine slide right in there? What else will I need?

Yikes to your emissions regulations! Find out for sure what the restrictions are. Diesel being able to run bio-diesel should be more favorable in my mind, but then I do not live in California. Cummins 4 cylinder 3.9L is a common swap, might gain you some favor...
