IH 1000 Loader

I am currently trying to get a IH1000 loader in shape to mount on my SA. I am trying to remove the pin where the loader boom mounts to the subframe directly in front of the hydraulic valve.

Should this pin be able to be removed from either direction? It looks to me like the previous owner welded a washer on the inboard side so that the pin can only be removed by driving it from left to right when viewing it from the operators seat. There is an angled grease fitting on the inboard side which leaves very little room for the pin to hammer on.

Any tips on removal of this pin will be appreciated. It looks to me like the first thing I should do is cut the weld and remove the washer so I can drive the pin to the right.

I would sure appreciate a close up picture of this connection on a working loader.

Thanks for the help.

Doug, My washer's are not welded and I can push the pin either way. I put a bottle jack under frame to take pressure off the pin and I can move mine by hand. Do you have alot of rust? mabe your is stuck? spray some PB on it. oldiron29

Guys,

Thanks for the help and the prompt response. BTW...I have the two manuals but the pictures are not as clear as they could be. However, there is nothing better than the actual experience of an owner of the device in question.

This forum is excellent.

Would you mind taking another look at your unit. I ground the weld off the washer and tried to drive the hinge pin out. The boom pivots on it easily so I know it is loose to the boom, but I can't get it to move horizontally. There appears to be either an oil seal or bearing or bushing lip around the pin inside the bore. The manual does not show anything in the bore except the pin. Before I wreck something I would sure like to know how it goes together.

Thanks for the help.

Check the description of item #5 here in the parts manual. Do you have a 5/16" pin running vertically through the bore and also the pivot pin? That is what is supposed to hold the pivot pin.

Denny,

Thanks for sending me the manual page. It answers my question. It shows a bushing on each end of the pivot pin. The manual I have does not show that bushing.

I have the 5/16" pin out so now I guess I just need to keep beating on the end of the pivot pin until it comes loose. Not sure what else I can do to free it up.

Thanks for the help.

Remove the grease fitting. It should simply unscrew.

That'll give you some more real estate for a drift punch.

Maybe the washer is welding the pin to the loader frame? It can't hurt to grind it off since it's not supposed to be there in the first place.
