help with 5088

A friend has a 5088 with a locked up rear end. What I mean is its like the diff lock is on but its not. Both axles will not unlock and it will not turn but will drive like normal.
One mechanic said its the whole rear end another said just the spyder gears.
Was wondering if any have had this problem or experiance with this or can just give some advice.

Dad had a 966 that the posi lock was stuck on and it acted the same way

We had a 1086 do this when it was new. I was running a field cultivator with it when it happened. I had depressed the diff lock and when I released it, the tractor was stuck. It would not turn. The technician came and replaced the valve underneath the platforn and in about 30 minutes it was back and running normally. I am not sure if the 50 series worked the same way or not.

We had this happen on a 7120 they put a new switch in it and it was fine again
