The clutch on my WD-9 is slow to disengage(3 seconds)I lubed everything iside the housing that needs to acorrding to the service manual it feels good -no rattling- tractor sits a lot..thanks in advance...

If you were pulling a disk in 3rd and pushed in the clutch it would take 3 seconds to disengage, or would it just plain stop in its tracks. I bet stop.
The flywheel effect of the driven disk will keep it turning for several seconds when the clutch is pushed in, Normal. Just wait. If when it is pushed in and shifted to neutral then to another gear it should not grind If it does the clutch plate is dragging on the FW or PP gummy splines or a warped disk can cause that (or a dry pilot bearing. one of mine does the same thing, maybe a second or two. the rear seal is leaking so i am thinking that has a bit to do with it also. have to be careful in reverse hooking to an impliment.

It has been off and on it its operational behavior...when I push in the clutch and apply the brakes it keeps pulling..sometimes and sometimes not..I think I may have to haul it to the family farm and "work it".

How much free travel do you have on your pedal? 2" or so should be enough. Too much itwill not release properly. Too little it will slip clutch under a load.

The issue is a gummy friction disk. Either grease from over greased pilot, or an oil leak. Either one will cause it to stick like an egg to the bottom of a skillet. Working it might get it to Fry off, give it a try, it is sure less intrusive than all other issues. Jim

You could also try blocking the clutch down when the tractor's not in use. You said it sits alot. My H did the same thing. I have a belly mower on it and during the summer when it's dry, I might mow once every 3 weeks. I'd have to smack the brakes to get it to stop. After blocking the clutch down for a few days it went away on its own. I keep a wooden wedge in the toolbox for that purpose, and use it every time it sits. Hasn't done it since.. Shawn

Guess you have to take it to every tractor pull in the area and slip the clutch a little while your there. That should help.

If I get my WD-9 running maybe I will head north and give you some competition.
