H Seat Spring Weight Rating

Just noticed in my manual that H seat springs are notched "in the top coil."
220# heavyweight operator = 5 notches
180# regular spring = 4 notches
140# lightweight operatro = 3 notches.
My olfd spring is rusted real bad, but it looks like it says IH 5.
Replacement eBay spring has no notches.

The replacement aftermarket springs do not have notches, but are of the same capacity as the 5 notch spring. I have a couple of new springs in inventory that I bought at OLD prices. Probably cheaper than ebay.
 
Rusty, are these old IH NOS springs or aftermarket ones of earlier manufacture? The newer heavyweight ones aren't really soft enough for me as I'm somewhat lighter in weight. Email open but would like something which requires less body weight. Thanks for a response, Hal.

These are new aftermarket. I installed one on my H and it is just perfect for heavyweight like me. I might still have the spring I removed. I could totally collapse that one.
 
George, This topic came up a while back on one of the boards either IH or Tractor talk. Someone commented that deflating a football and sliding it into the coils, then re inflating it and setting it up vertically would help a whole lot, sort of gives you an air ride effect, keeps the factory V shaped spring from bottoming out when us larger, Full Figured Guys sit in the seat.
