Got some Howling???

With my 130...in 4th gear...there is some "howling" that seems to be coming from the left wheel. All fluids are OK. What do I need to do...and how do I do it? Tks.

Take it apart, see what's wrong, and fix it...

Unfortunately, that's the best advice anyone can give. Anything could be wrong in there causing the howling.

Use wood wedges to keep the front end from pivoting from side to side when you start removing wheels and final drives from the rear. The tractor is not balanced well once you start taking it apart, and could turn turtle on you.

Thanks MKirsch...I've never done a rear bearing job on a tractor. My 130 has rear wheel weights. How about a step by step? I've done bearings on cars and trailers but would like a little more advise. Appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks

Any one of us would be here for hours typing up a step-by-step. I don't think you can reasonably ask for something like that...

Really, it's not complicated. You're going to be lifting heavy pieces so you will want one or two healthy helpers, and/or a shop crane, along with good jacks.

These are ball bearings you'll be working with, very different from the tapered roller bearings you normally see on a car or trailer. I think there are a total of four in each final drive.
