Tractor Insurance

I just talked to my farm bureau agent and he said he could only insure it for retail value.
I would like to cover it for what I have in it. What insurance companies are yall using?

You can't get it covered for what you have in it because it does not have the retail value of what you have in it -- unless it is a SMTA or something. What is it?

I talked to my Nationwide Ins. guy and he told me that if I want to insurance on it for an antique I would have to get it appraised and then it would be a historical item with healthy premiums. But since the hp is that of a garden tractor then i would get out of it what a new garden tractor would cost plus a little more. I have a 1946 A and 1946 BN. So with those having some hp, I would get more out of them then what I paid. But I know that it would not be the true value of them. But I would only lose my labor.

Get it insured for "replacement valus". If it;s stolen, or destroyed, you go shopping for one just like it. Then either buy it or take that amount of money.

If you have it insured as a collectible you can insure it for an appraised value, you will need to shop around for an agent who will do his home work.

that get me thinking, never thought about asking the company that insures my classic cars. also i will have to ask my regular insurance if property insurance covers them/or need a special writer policy. thanks guys

your agent needs to do his homework, i have had my show tractors insured with state farm, full coverage on the same type policy as an antique car, each one at $4500. for the past 10 years, thats on a farmall H & a 1940 Massey Super 101 at this time. Costs $80.00 per year per tractor. i can change the policy for what i want to insure at the time. does not change the premium or discription, just has year & ser.# on policy.

Farm Bureau will allow you to insure the tractors for $4500 but they will only pay you retail value.

The $4500 sets the LIMIT on what they'll pay, no insurance company will insure an asset for more than its market value.

As far as an A or BN being equal to a garden tractor, you could argue you're entitled to a garden tractor with an SAE PTO and the ability to connect 100 or so attachments :) Pretty fancy and expensive garden tractor.

Trust me, a garden tractor advertised as 22hp will not put the power to the ground that a Farmall A/B/C will.

The 113 motor puts out more than the 19 or 20 horses typically given as drawbar and pto ratings.

Comparing those ratings to the way modern garden tractors are rated is an apples and oranges thing.

I have my insurance thru Hagerty Collecter Car Ins. I have W9,SWD9,600 and a Cub insured about $100 per year per tractor. You state your value they approve or not.
