where's my post

I got on here about 2 hours ago and I don't remember seeing any posts about a 656. I have "thought" that I posted before but failed to click on submit after the preview of the post. I learned that on long posts that I do a copy of my text just in case I fail to do the last step. I don't like having to type something a second time.

Ive been on since 2:00 am and I remember a 656 Question, but I usally dont read real close unless it pertains to F series

I must have not submitted my post. It was kind of long too. It involved finally getting our 656 gas tractor to run for more than 2 minutes. Problem was fuel strainer head was plugged. I took the screen & thin metal cap off where the fuel comes out & didn't put either of them back. Let the fuel drop straight down. Make sure to take the shut off valve off too & use whatever it takes to clean the assembly including air. I installed a clear inline filter kit w/hoses & clamps in the line & the tractor runs again. Don't put the screen back in. The inline filter is very effectve. I did a lot of things to the tractor before this finally worked. This had been an on & off problem for a year & a half. I'm not taking credit for this fix. I talked to a long time IH mechanic who has his own shop & after I told him all the stuff I tried including cleaning the carb more than once & buying points & condenser plus ignition coil & taking the tank off & cleaning it he said that was the problem & it was. I know some people have had the same kind of trouble w/their tractor & not just a 656 so maybe this info can help someone who's having a hard time keeping their tractor running. If anyone does do this the fuel line is 5/16, at least on our 656 which is a farmall.
