Thank You Jim,
I pulled the pan and happy to looks good. Like a
2x4 If you have to look twice it's straight. Good
thing when I pulled the pan I had thick sludge
only in the bottom of the pan, and the sump was
mostly clogged with it too. The block looks good,
I checked for any other play on crank, and even
the cam looked very clean and smooth. So I'd say
something good came out of that goofy cast. I'm
sorry but I got to say it, It really panned out!
Thank again ...Tim

In my first post on this topic I stated that the piston was twisted. I now realize that I should have stated that the piston looks to be turned by the looks of the position of the top cast. Sorry for any confusion. Good thing I"m a Truck mechanic and not an author. ...Tim

Also, I was assuming because I saw in the manual briefly as I paged through, they showed an engine man checking for twist in a piston rod. ...Tim

In the earlier post I suggested that the piston could have been cast with the head a few degrees from straight. If so the rod could be just fine, and tearing into the engine to find out it was not bent would have been a waste. A crooked piston casting (with many hours on it) that was running well will continue to do so. Just a final reality check on the fact that there had been no catastrophic event to bend a rod in a twist. My hunch paid off saving some bucks. Jim
