Farmall 130 wheel spacing with L59

What do you recommend for front and rear wheel spacing when mowing with this combo? I can't find any suggestions in either manual. Thanks :)

There is no wheel spacing number because it makes little difference. If you are on hills or ditch banks, setting it as wide as possible is best. If you have a small shed, and flat ground closer is no issue. Setting the tires so that the overlap on passes allows one front wheel to run in cut grass works well to keep nice straight path of cut. Perfect! Thanks very much for the info!

As Jim says there is no specification. Wide spacing is best for safety, but I don't like cutting grass/weeds where the rear tire has been, it will come up again. I run the front and rear tires in the grass I just cut, much like running the wheels in the furrow while plowing. Thus I am only cutting about 4.5 ft. As to safety I avoid slopes I consider dangerous, and always keep the offset engine on the high side.

If the wheels are in too far, the mower deck tends to catch on the rear tires when you go in reverse. So best to set the wheels out some. I have my wheels dished in, but the rims are set as far out as they will go. This setup makes the rear track a little wider than the mower cut (with 11.2 x 24 tires) which you may not like. With the tires set out like this, you get added stability on hilly ground and also minimize the problem of the deck catching the rear tire lugs in reverse. Also, because of the tire problem, you don't want to set the mower lift so that it raises too high. The front tread setup doesn't matter much.

That's a good point too. I am dealing with fairly flat ground, and still being extra cautious as I get used to the 130. It's pretty much set up to run in the cut grass, so I'll likely leave it there.

Thanks for the advice guys!

Get an owner's manual for your L59. It will tell you that the deck is supposed to run with the front a little lower than the back. Make sure you have the dolly type wheels on the front. You can run on the drop chain and the skid plates, but the wheels are realy needed. They get very close and sometimes touch front tires when backing. Be careful that your drop/lift chain mount clears the steering shaft and the gas tank!
