What kind of Hydraulic oil to put in my M and Super C?

Hey guys, I put a loader on my M and it lifts really slow, and I believe the system is low on hydraulic fluid. I planned to drain and refill it with fresh fluid, but not exactly sure what to run. I also wanted to put some hydraulic fluid in my Super C too. What should I run in the touch control on that? The same as the M? Thanks!

I run hytran in all my belly pump machines. The book calls for nondetergent 30 SAE (some say there was a magic potion IH put in the oil as well) They didn't have hytran back then.

i am quite sure no problem running any good quality hydraulic oil in those old tractor hyd's. hy-tran is not nessesary but if you have other tractors using that oil then no problem to use that and keep things simple and cylinders can all share the same oil instead of cross contamination.just pick what suits your needs, as there is nothing written in stone for these old hydraulic systems.

Being low on oil by itself will not make it operate slow. If it's low on fluid, it should get to a point where it gets kind of "jerky", then eventually not lift any farther. If it continues to lift, but lifts slow, it's not low oil, it's the pump not moving enough fluid, or part of the fluid is bypassing somewhere, either in the loader valve, or the relief valve.

Well it wasn't really lifting slow, it was just lifting weird. Like I'd pull back on the rod and it would lift like 5 inches, then stop, then pop out another foot or so, and so forth. But wouldn't raise all the way, only went about half way up.

You are low on fluid, and the system has air in it. I would drain the belly pump and refill with Hy-Tran. 6 or 8 quarts will fill it, but you will probably need to add more oil after putting the loader through its paces.
