SM and No.8 slat bottom plow...PICS

Pulled the plow out and played around with it a little today. First plow I have ever owned (I"m 21) so getting it going has been a little interesting but it is coming along nicely. Will eventually get it painted up to go behind my MD. Had it hooked up to my SM today... Thought you guys might enjoy some pics (they were taken on my phone so not the best quality)

Thanks for sharing Matt--that really brings back some fond memories growing up on the dairy farm--plowing was always (and still is) my favorite. Still remember hearing the Super M pull those 3x16"s in that White River Bottom Sandy Silt Loam! Steve

looks like you were having fun cant wait to get my super and 39 h on steel out to plow at our plow days in a couple weeks should be a blast

Sweet. I wish I had a slat bottom plow. Someday. Are those 14s or 16?

On the side, shouldn't the trip wheel be facing the normal orientation since it has to catch to lift the plow? Not really sure if it matters because mine has two truck tires and it still works.

Probably doesn't make much difference on the plow, but it will work a little better the way it is. Wheel STOPS when it's tripped until it latches, so it will grip better reversed.

The plow tire is faceing the correct direction.A 'pulled' wheel will run the oppisite direction of a 'driveing' wheel.

They are 14" bottoms. Some adjusting was done after those pictures were taken and we were able to get it cutting about 10" deep.

That was my question. I know on a grain cart you run the wheels backwards, but on a ground driven spreader you run them forward. Technically this is a ground driven plow so it is a driving wheel. The wheel generates the force to lift the plow.
Like we all said, it really won't matter. It doesn't take much to lift the plow.
What did they run for tires on them from the start?

Nice looking pictures. How big is that field?
I still plow my garden. I plowed 1/2 of it several weeks ago. If it ever stops raining I'll plow the other half. It has rye on it and its getting tall. hal
