Super a oil pump

Inspecting oil pump noticed issue with bottom plate held on with 4 bolts. The one the gears run against. It seems worped between bolts on two sides. Enough that gasket will not seal. Gears and all are in good shape.
Is this common?
Is there so much pressure to actually bend this plate ?
I'm afraid to attempt to straighten. Looks like some type of cast.

Also, what thickness gasket goes here?

Thanks guys for all your insight.

I can tell you the gasket is very thin, almost like paper, I have one just left over from an engine set, if everything else look good in the pump I would just try to find a plate.

Using sand paper on a good flat surface sometimes they can be sanded till they are flat again it all depends on how bad its warped and new ones are still available you just wont like the price.

Thanks Gene. I started that with sandpaper last night. Realized I needed something more course than 800 grit. It seems pretty bad to me but I'm going to work on it some more.

Thanks

If it does not pan out for you, your local Case/IH dealer can still get that plate. They are quite proud of it ($120) - but these engines are 60+ years old - guess we should be pleased we can get anything at all...

This sounds similar to a C, and I had the same problem a few years ago. I got some good advice on this board and fixed it. I sanded the cover flat and then put a steel reinforcing plate on it with longer bolts. The gasket thickness is determined by the gear clearance, .001-.002" I think. you can check that with plastigauge. I think the CIH gaskets are very thin and you use 2, maybe only 1 after 50 years of wear. I made my own gasket out of some paper that was the right thickness You may get some better advice but this is how I fixed ours for about $5 and we have way more oil pressure than before!
