Went out to change the oil in my f12 yesterday, the oil has not been changed in about 9 months, does'nt get ran a whole lot. When I drained the oil it had some antifreeze in the oil,not much at all I would say less than 3 to 4 tablespoons came out first. Tractor does'nt smoke at all and none of the cylinders seem to have any antifreeze in them,I do have a small leak of oil and antifreeze in the front of the engine seems to be coming from the pully at the bottom. Could this be a head gasket or more likely a cracked block. Last i was wondering since this leak seems to be so minor at what point should i dig into the engine to check it out,is it safe to run the engine with a little antifreeze leaking in the oil. All I do is show the tractor and use it for hay rides.

Thanks for any help

Anti-freeze in the oil is not a good thing. It can only come from a few places. Most common, cracked head, cracked block, cracked sleeve(s), bad head gasket. The problem is if there is too much anti-freeze in the oil it will get circulated through the engine. Anti-freeze is not a good lubricator. Now, 2-3 teaspoons probably is not going to hurt. However, leaks tend to get worse with time. Considering the limited use the tractor gets I would feel safe not addressing the leak right away. But keep a very close eye on it. Your oil will get foamy the more anti-freeze/water that gets into it.

Probably a sleeve oring . For the use you describe I would probably just loosen the drain plug enough to let the coolant drip out until oil comes out before use . It is not a pressurized cooling system so it may go a long time before getting worse.

Over winter the o-ring got hard & didn't seal well. I would run it & keep checking for af in the oil. With running there should be enough crud to seal up the leak.
