Not meaning to a smart-a$$, but you answered your own question. An ammeter shows amps. A voltmeter shows volts. All letter series tractors came with ammeters.

Internally there is a shunt made of resistive material. This shunt passes all the current imposed on it to the load terminal. The gauge is much smaller thin wires across this shunt, and incremented in Amps. Jim

If you want to read volts, just add a volt meter. They're the easiest to wire. Just attach one wire to hot and the other to ground, preferably after the ignition switch so that you won't drain the battery while the tractor is parked.

The typical Farmall ammeter has a "0" in the center of the scale. Deflection to the left indicates discharge amps, right charge amps.
