Notch on inside casting on H PTO cover

There is a small notch on the inside of the casting. Like an idiot, I didnt pay attention as to which way it was faceing when I took the cover off. Can anybody tell me which way it goes?

It goes up. It is a vent for the back part of the bearing so the seal doesn't see pressure as things heat up. BTW, if you turn it upside down, you can see that it isn't truly symmetrical and wouldn't look right.
