H farmall has been in barn for over thirty years.
starter, generator missing and no battery. Could someone tell me the correct polarity of the battery, is it pos. ground?
thanks

You can put in a 12V negative ground battery if you put an alternator on, or just use the 12V for starting.

I am not sure the tractor is pos ground. Actually, I believe it is neither because it is missing the generator. I know if you remove the generator (or some say battery as well) you need to repolarize the system; Therefore the battery could be installed either way.
BUT, from the factory it was pos ground. They are correct, you can use a 12v on the 6v starter. I wouldn't go nuts, but it will work.
