H bull pinion bearing Removal

I have H and would like to change the bull pinion bearing. I have the top off the tranny. My Question is to get it out do have to take the wheels off to get the bull gear off or is there an easier way?

If I recall correctly you have to securely block the tractor up and unbolt the axle from the tub and take out the bull gear bolt. You only need to move the axle enough to slide it out of the hole in the bull gear and then roll the bull gear back or lift it out. Then you put bolts in the two threaded holes in the pinion housing on the outside of the tub and they pull the housing out of the tub.

The idea Zachary indicates is OK but there is no need to unbolt the axle or take off the wheels. Put boards under the wheels, jack up the rear housing to take all but tire/wheel weight off of the tires. Remove the outer axle bearing seal retainer and the bull gear retainer bolt in the center of the bull gear. I put shims under the bull gear to keep it up in the air. Then the axles wheels and tires can be scooted out far enough to get the bull gear back out of the way of the pinion cage. Be careful with blocking to assure safety. Jim
