International 404 transmission fluid leak

I have been loosing fluid at a high rate & have been at a loss.I have looked all under the tractor looking for a source & I am still not sure.
Dose the PTO shaft get it's lubrication from the same sump as the transmission & 3 point hitch?
If it turns out to be the source of the leak, what will be the fix?

When you say you can't find the source of the leak, do you mean there is a puddle under the tractor, but you don't see where it comes from? Or is the fluid disappearing and you don't know where it is going?

If there is no fluid on the ground, check the crankcase. The 404 uses a hydraulic pump to circulate the transmission fluid, and the pump seal can fail and let the fluid into the crankcase.

If there is a puddle, clean the bottom of the tractor really well, let it sit and run, and you should be able to see where it leaks from.

I believe the PTO is separate from the transmission, everything else works from a common reservoir.

Thank you Harold....I don't see any extra oil in the crankcase ...(actually it indicates about a quart low)I am parked on grass so it is a little hard to see what is happening....I degreased the the whole area where fluid may be leaking. I have yet to get fluid to come out of the "full fluid port".I have put put 12 gallons in the last week & you think I would be wading in fluid.
