14% buyers fee!?! You should be ashamed of yourself.

Wow I guess! If he is going to get himself some free advertisement here on the forum he should at least waive that buyers fee for all forum members. Only seems fair.

4% "cash discount" sounds like the IRS might like to check that out... I think he's pocketing a little without reporting it.
I know some "upscale" auction houses, like Barrett-Jackson have gone to a buyers fee, but that is ridiculous. This is the first time I've seen a farm auction place do it.

here in colo. we have a lot of auctions that you only pay sales tax, still b/s, seller pay auction fees. i agree, why should i have to pay buyers fee, they forget, if we didn't go to auctions, spend money, won't have auctions. can dicker on c-list for lesser money, save buyers fee.

oh boy, I am going to step into it now. First off, did anyone look at what is being sold? Some pretty good items. Secondly, I personally don't care if there is a buyer's fee or not. someone please explain to me the difference between a bid of $440 with a 14% buyer's fee, and a bid of $500 with NO buyer's fee? Well guys, there is none. Works out to the same amount. I guess I don't mind backing into what I am willing to pay for something, and then bid accordingly. The auction company needs paid, so that is what the fee is for.

Lastly, there is a 5% fee for using credit cards, and usually a similar charge for each check deposited on a commercial account. SO, if there is a cash discount, it is NOT always to outwit Uncle Sam.

As far as free advertising here, what is the difference between posting here, or listing each item in the classified section? None.

C'mon guys, are you too lazy to do the math to determine what you are willing to spend? I guess I am kind of surprised by the immediate negative comments and EVERYONE jumped on the band wagon..........so, everyone who posted hates me now, but take a step back and think about what each of you said.

PS: Dale, thanks for posting. You have some neat stuff there, and I may bid. Enjoy your retirement, if you have spent your life farming, it has been a hard road, and you deserve to enjoy some time relaxing. Best of luck with the auction.

Fellas, There is no buyers fee on this auction. I'm paying the 10% auction fee. Sometimes auction companies also impose the buyers fee, but that is not the case here.

And thanks to Tom Fleming for his kind remarks. I was surprised to read the negative comments on the advertising also. Tom put it in a good perspective.

I appologize for the misleading post. I checked out the rest of the auctions after yours and saw that. I never knew auctioneers ran different fee schedules for different auctions.
I do not appologize for my opinion on the buyers fee. First I don't think it is right to be charged to shop (This isn't Sam's Club lol) Second, I always thought the commission went towards the auctioneers salary and advertising. Why should I as the consumer pay to be informed of your auction? Wouldn't the seller benifit for better advertising than the buyer??? Third, people don't do the math. They can't multiply the bid price by 1.14/1.10 in their head as their bidding. I think it is a way of tricking the consumer. Finally, I do agree with a credit card fee. As a retailer he gets charged approx 3% to run the card. The extra one percent is a little questionable, I guess you could call it a convienence fee. However, as the auctioneer I think I would rather take a credit card than a check. Credit cards don't bounce!!!

I think you have a nice line of stuff. I didn't see the W-9 in the pictures. Is it decent or parts or ??? BTW, I don't think selling or auctions are allowed in the regular forum. I think it is supposed to be confined to the classifieds section.
