1938 Farmall F30

I recently located a 1938 F30...present owner said his father bought the tractor new and tractor has been in the same family and on the same ranch for more than 70 years! Old guy not run in many years, but motor free, has belt pulley, foot brakes, round rear spokes, narrow front and the wide stance rear. Appears to be mostly complete, hood is off tractor, but supposed to be around somewhere. Tires rotted and trashed, wheels seem OK. Has a good ID tag and S/N is 27971. Does anyone have an idea of its value? BTW, I spent many hours aboard an F30 as a young lad on an Indiana farm some 50 to 60 years ago. And at the time we thought the big F30 was quite the stud!

whatever scrap is worth is going to set a basis. I do think they are worth saving and I have a couple i want to fix up. I think I counted 10 or 12 that could be saved.

It is hard to put a price on something like that.
The F30's are always going to bring more than an F20. There were so few made in comparison. The other consideration would be, what are they asking or looking to get for it? Scrap prices in our neck of the woods, would put it at around $600-$700. I guess I would offer $1000 for what you described and see how they react. All dolled up and running it ought to bring $3500. I would want it to keep though.

Same thoughts, I would start around $750 or 800. 10% more than scrap, plus they don't need to haul it.
Do yourself a favor and don't get it running for them. A lot of guys won't take a chance and try to make them run before buying them. That is sure to double the price.

Guys... Thanks for your responses on F-30 value. I went ahead and gathered it up along with a couple of other tractors. One is an early Farmall 400 LP(don't think it has the good head) but it does have quick hitch and wide front. The other tractor is an 806 International Standard, which left the factory as an LP but now is diesel. All three of the old dudes are not much above salvage, but will do what I can to save them from the scrap yard.
