Farmall H and Super H steering parts

Hello, I have a "51 H (serial#FBH375702X1)and a late "53 SuperH (serial#19501J) My question is can anyone tell me if the steering parts in both of these tractors use the same part numbers? Are the sector and worm shaft the same as well as all the bushings, bearings and seals?I have a parts book for the Super H but not the regular H. My H is really hard to steer.Could it be that a bearing in the bottom of the bolster that supports the front end weight of the tractor may be bad?If so I wonder if it is still available or where I can get it?I was thinking I tried to get one for my Super H about 15 years ago and my local IH dealer said it was not available. Thank You anybody for any help, Paul Bowers

Paul - AFIK the '51 H and the Super H share the same steering parts.

For the bolster thrust bearing give the IHC part number (354 676 R91) to your local bearing/seal house. They should be able to cross it to another mfr's equivalent.

However before ordering up a new thrust bearing you might check for a missing spacer beneath the thrust bearing. I had a Super H that steered hard when I brought it home. Upon disassembly I discovered this spacer missing. Had a toolmaker friend turn a replacement spacer based on our best guess of dimensions and put it back together. The tractor now steers nice 'n easy.

Paul,
Was wondering if the motor serial number that is stamped into the motor block below #3 spark plug on your Super H is 22236 ? Also if you're in the Providence area. Thanks, Pat
