I recently purchased a 460 international utility I have 2 questions that I would like to get answered if possible

On the serial number plate there is the 4 digit year code which the first 2 numbers are 27 which should indicate its a 1959 460 There is also a P and a Y on the plate I would like to know what they stand for.

My second question is this There is no fast hitch on the tractor any suggestions on how I add one and what difficulties do you forsee.

My first thought is to add the hitch and tie in the hydraulic cylinder into the 2 rear remotes on the tractor

Thanks

Your biggest problem in adding the fast hitch will be in finding one. 460 Utilities aren't all that common in my experience.

When you say "two remotes" do you mean two hose couplers, or do you mean two valves?

A pair of hose couplers is considered ONE "two-way" hydraulic remote.

You can use them to control a fast hitch, but you will lose the ability to use that remote for other things. If your 460 came with three remotes (three levers on the right side of the dash panel) no big deal.

thankyou for your response

I wish I had more valves but current there is only one set to drive the remotes. SO I am thinking I could potentially lift the fast hitch up and down with a set of remotes. I have found a fast hitch that will fit. The ideal would be to find another valve and add it to the hydra touch but that may be more work than I want to do at this time considering its spring already.

my 1960 international 460 utility has a 3 point hitch and yes it is factory it is a international not a farmall mine is 1 of 3000 made according to serial #

There were 11411 International 460's built (1958-1963) 4172 in 1960. The 3 point was available for the industrial version, will probably fit the regular utility. I won't say there were no 3 point utilities from the factory but the parts manual lists the 3 point only for the industrial.

Thankyou everyone for your excellent responses.
As much as I would prefer a 3pt hitch it sounds like my chances of finding one are slim to none.
There does seem to be a number of fast hitches and parts available for it.
Though it may be short lived wife blew a gaskett today when she saw it parked behind the barn. Unless she cools down I may be selling it. I had a 340 gas before this and I really liked that tractor. Even though its larger than the 340 she liked driving it I guess I need to put her in the seat tomorrow and hope for the best.
