I took off my belly pump to change a seal in the tranny. So my questions are to change the bearing on the drive shaft do I have to pull off the top cover of the tranny? and also if I am never going to use the hydrulic pump can I just leave it out or do I need to put it back in. Just a work tractor I never Going to Restore it. Thanks for any info.Adam

nope aint no need to take the top off theres enough room to wiggle the drive shaft back on there. you could remove the belt pulley if you like its straight under thebelt pulley. A little trick ive found theres a "openface " bearing that the drive shaft slips up on take a small rubber band and wrap around that bearing to "pull the needles together" where the driveshaft will slip over the needles. you can run the tractor with out the belly pump also

Wouldn't hurt to make up a tin cover to keep the crud out if you leave it out, but it is certainly not needed. Most of the pullers around here take it out.
