Hello, I'm supposed to be going to look at a TD-9 trackloader that's being parted out about three hours away. It is a gas start diesel and I'm just wondering if anyone know if it's the same basic engine as the WD-9? Thanks, Sam

Many thanks, I started looking at pics on the net (not of the exact machine) and they didn't look much like the standard TD-9 so I was starting to get concerned. Thanks, Sam

The TD-9 designation was used for many years. Perhaps into the '80s or later. I don't think there would be any parts interchangeability between early and late. That certainly applies to the engines. Late TD-9 used a six cylinder engine and a lighter undercarriage.

Have the owner send you a serial number or picture.

Can't say as I have ever seen a loader on a 4 cylinder TD-9.

The TD9 should have a D335 engine. The TD91 used a D350 engine. The TD92 switched to a D282, six cylinder engine.

I've got a '51 TD9 and a '56 TD91, both with loaders on them.

He did say it was a gas start diesel as he has one of the newer six cylinder direct starts. Here's hoping it's the right one. He was keeping some stuff for parts and I know he said most of the powertrain was different to his. Thanks, Sam

didn't see your topic untill i posted another thread on a td-9, if anyone interested in one for sale, that i can't afford, lol
