Wore Out Front Cultivator Supports On Super A

All the arms or supports for the front cultivators, plows and shanks are wore out and loose.Every pivot point that the hydraulic makes move up and down, has way to much free play.

Just wondering have any of you folks ever had that problem and what you did to tighten it up?I was thinking, perhaps shims or bushings? LOL,I know this one fellow that solved that problem,by stealing good ones off of his brother's tractor.

I would never go that route, or stoop that low, they would just have to stay loose.

If you folks can't understand what I'm meaning by loose, picture yourself setting on a SA,with the front cultivators on.

Now look at the right square bar that supports the second from the right front plow and shank. That same square bar on my tractor,I can move it a foot each way with my hand.

How about it,some of you folks are bound to have the solution.Don't worry my brother don't got no tractor, lol

Seems like some people just never heard of oil on a joint that moves. Seeing as how those are hard to find i would start by working on one joint at a time starting with the worst.

Been fighting the same problem on my Super A cultivators. I was able to tighten up the bolts that are on the pivot points. I had to replace the bolts first and then torque them down real hard to take up the wear. Didn"t sole the problem completely but they are about 80% better. Enough better that I"m happy with them again.

On my uncles Super A he had welded some parts together because of this. We were going to get another Super A with cultivators, plus try a cultivator kit (144) I had for my 140 to see if the front brackets would work on his.

He passed away before we started but just wanted to pass on the idea.

Thats what I have in mind.Shims, bushings or new bolts I think would fix the problem.Just wanted to know if anyone else had used them and the outcome. Thanks everyone. eb

I just dissambled the front end on my SA. Had to take the cultivators off and found the Busch lite tall boy cans I had used as shims when I assembled it 4 years ago. They (the cans) probably should have been replaced last year, but they did get a lot of slop out of the cultivators. We have also drilled some of these fittings for zirks when we have them apart; slow going.
