O.T. Cultimulchers!!!

i run a small produce buisness, ands have been looking for a 10 or 12 ft. cultimulcher for a few years.Seems like theres a lot of larger ones out there, but the smaller ones are pretty hard to find..And when you do find one they sell for outrageous money... Finally broke down and bought one today at a local auction. Its a 12ft. kewanee in very good shape...solid stars on front, and crowsfoot on rear..none broke...teeth are very good, came with the cylinder..i gave 1800...does this sound like a lot, or did i get it for a reasonable price?? They sure do a nice job leveling the ground...what do u guys think??

I think it depends on what part of the country you are in but I think the price seems fair. I found a few at sales last year, one was a 12' Brillion, in excellent shape and it brought $2400. Later I saw a 16' Deere in fair condition and no cylinder bring $1800. Haven't seen any yet this year. They sure do a nice job of making a seedbed. My old one is about ready to head off to the scrapper and even though I don't use one much at all anymore (do a lot of no till these days) I'd like to find another one...just in case!

I bought an 8 foot Brillion in great shape and same as new with both a pull tongue and 3-point hook-up last fall for $1100. I think you did fine but I have seen then go for basically scrap value at farm auctions at times when no one is interested in them and in rough shape. They certainly do wonders in seed germination and preparing a nice seed bed. Enjoy your purchase, Hal.
