So, what do you think of a 460 row crop? (diesel)
Got my eye on one, but I've never owned a 460, or 560 and dont have a clue. Thanks

They are a big step up from an M, 400, or 450. Direct start for one thing. However, they do tend to be cold blooded.

I have a 460 disel i bought out of a junk pile and the Wife named it The Buckett Of Bolts! Once i got it running i changed the name to Old Stinky! Cold blooded on starting is a understatement at best!!!!! Other than the power steering i think a 400 is a better tractor?? Supposedly their very cheap on fuel once you get past the cold slobbering Once it warms up i need to move the wheels out to move the fenders out and maby put a step on to make it a front mount?? Learning.Bud.

I've run gas, Diesel and lp 460's, handy, user friendly tractors. They just won't pull anything. Power wise they might be a good replacement for a 350. I've only had lp and Diesel 450's and excluding comfort, the 460's were no match for them in power or quality. As an almost unrelated side note, the first tractor I actually used was a '59 460 Hi-Utility LPG, super-rare collector now, at the time it proved to be a total lemon and was canniblized for parts by about '74.

I had a 460 utility diesel once. About like Bud's. What are you going to use it for? When mine was sitting, it kept the dirt under the tires from blowing away.

As I understand it the 460 is a continuation of the H/SH/300/350 line and the 400/450 were succeeded by the 560. The number jump is confusing, but I guess there are only so many numbers available to use to name tractors, so what could they do?

I should have stated that better when I gave letter/number examples. I would guess (I will probably go do research) that a 460 diesel had just as much motor as an M plus a little weight.

Max Hp is 46 and at rated speed it was 44.40. That would put it at more than an M (unless it had some mods). They ran it at 9139 lbs!!! Bare it was 6055 so it is only a hair bigger than an M.

They say the M is 36.07 at rated speed and 36.66 hp max tested. They don't give a weight, but they say they added 750 lbs of cast weight. That would put it at around 6500, probably less.

We have a 560 Diesel. It was tough to start and slobbered fuel too until I overhauled it. It was like a new tractor after that.
