'51 Farmall H Sheet Metal?

Trying to find out if anyone out there makes any new Sheet Metal for a '51 Farmall H. A friend of mine may be looking for a Hood, Grille Section and maybe a Gas Tank.

OEM Tractor Parts. He might as well buy another tractor if that has good ones! Their prices are getting nuts.

Are you sure you can't fix the metal that is there? You can even patch up metal that is missing. You would generally be better off to take it to a body man to see if he can repair it.

sflem849, My friend who is working on it is actually a body man. The Hood can probably be fixed, but there is deep pits and early rust-thru in the Bars on the Grille. He is figuring that it would be a lot less work and well worth it to find another. Ebay sounds good, but are there any good used tractors yards in any of the dry states that might have some?

(quoted from post at 19:23:11 03/25/11) No new sheet metal for the H or M, OEM does not make it.

I forgot they don't have hoods for the big tractors. I know they have the grills. Page 23 of 2008 has them for $289. You could probably figure $300 by now. That doesn't include the top part. You can get the *Special Service* for another $45 and they will weld your top to their repro bottom.

From what I have seen this stuff isn't like working on cars. You are better off to work with reasonable stuff that you have because you can't just order a fender repair kit like he is used to.

sflem849, I just went to their web site and didn't see any Grilles for an H, except for a small insert. Do you have a link to page 23?

That was for an M,SM, & SMTA.

There is a tool out there to straighten the bars on your grill. I have seen it work at RPRU and it looked very effective.

Edit - Yeah, it looks like you really lose with an H. Hopefully the guys who emailed you have some good parts to offer.

I had my mail open but it didn't work, try this.
Tank has been sanblasted and epoxy primered. Cleaned inside. Ready for seal primer and paint and install.
