IH sycle mower help

I bought a C-21-M sycle mower and need a little input. It seems to be in good shape but of course has a few issues. I've ordered a new belt and pitman arm and should get them soon, But the parts book shows a hook, plunger and spring in the end of the pitman. These are no longer there but are available. I plan to use it some but not alot. Do I need to replace these parts or use the jerry rigged bolt that bubu put through the slot.( I assume to take up any slack ) I have not had ANY experience with sycle mowers and any input will be appreciated. Can't wait to put it on the Super C.

All that stuff has to be "right" if you want it to cut hay. The bar has to be kept in "register" which means the sections must center in the guards at BOTH ends of the stroke. Those are all wear parts as to the ball and socket. Lost motion is a big no no. Also all the sections must be sharp and fit closely with sharp guard plates giving a scissor action when cutting. Rust, and dull, broken, and miss-fitting parts won't cut it. {pun intended}

Thanks. It looks sharp and complete but I will check and adjust according to the manual. Guess I'll add to my parts order.

Take the iron parts from the old pitman and install in the new one.
