Super A manifold has what I would call a damper I guess for running on kerosene. It is permanently locked at about 45 degrees but appears to have been adjustable before. Should I cut this thing out?

Do you guys paint you manifold with high temp paint. I have never seen any but black.

There are other colors. Go to NAPA and ask for engine paint. Even that won't last forever on manifolds. I don't think the manifolds were painted with anything fancy so the paint just burned off. Technically that would make them red or rusty...not sure what you would call it.

You can just leave the flapper thing. It isn't going to over heat or anything. I would blast it or put it in the electrolysis tank and see if I could make it move. I just like a challenge.

With out seeing it. I would say it's part of a lift system that Farmall used to lift implements. The exhaust gases were used to lift the implements. Had a Farmall B with that system and it didn't work very well. But our tractor had the block in it that was set up to put live hydraulic on it.

That is a dual fuel manifold, and if intack, is actually a rare bird and worth a bit of money. Yes, the butterfly is supposed to move, and I have freed up a couple over the years, but you have to be patient and careful, otherwise you will break the manifold.

As others have said, leaving the butterfly where it is does no harm. If you have no use for the manifold, I am willing to bet that someone on this board would trade a regular gasoline manifold for it, or better yet, pay you enough money to get a brand new one AND a few $$$ left over for gaskets and paint, and a 6 pack of your favorite beverage.

IMHO.

If I were to pay that much it better have a fully functioning butterfly and a solid heat shield.
I would certainly send him my good gas manifold for a dist/keor one.
