On the bacl of the instrument cluster with the idiot light for amp/oil and the team and fuel there is a condenser mounted on mine. I don't see that condenser on my wiring diagram. Is that something that should be there od did a PO add that for some reason???

Rick

To the best of my knowledge, it is NOT factory, wasn't one on the 856 or any of the 656s I've had.

As to why, is it by chance connected across the fuel gauge? If so it just might help keep the fuel gauge needle from swaying wildly when you drive over rough ground. Just guessing, never seen or tried it but it might work.

Ok thanks, the PO had an electrical fire and I'm rewiring now and for some reason the condenser mounting just didn't look like something from the factory.

Is It hooked to the amp idiot light? I've seen condensors (Note: If I remember correctly, they are technically a capacitor, for storing energy) hooked to voltage regulators, I assume to help excite it at lower engine RPM's.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. -Andy

I would be willing to bet it was someone's attempt to reduce radio interference. You see capacitors attatched all over for that very reason. In fact, the tractor I am working on lately has one on the instrument panel also. It has a fender mounted radio.

Andy, you don't suppose the condensor is there to filter out electrical noise do 'ya??? (LOL!)

Well, I guess that's what everybody else thinks. I've never really heard the theory behind doing it before. There was a condensor on the voltage regulator of a 730 gas Case I worked on, and It seems like I've seen it a few time since working on that particular tractor. I guess if it helps with interference from the alternator or generator, so you can mount a radio, I'll have to remember that. Then again, I'm not sure I'd hear a radio over the 806...

Andy no it was hooked to one side of the fuel gauge.

Rick

If it is connected to the sender side of the fuel gauge it may be there to compensate for a worn sender. A capacitor can help calm a bouncing needle.
