Ok did the early 12volt system use a 12 generator or did they always have altanator on 12 volt systems.

To my best guess they started with Delco generators and switched to alternators. caseih.com search for parts (a little bit of page flipping) then put in international. Scroll down to gas tractor and then choose electrical. Go for it, a wealth of parts info. Jim

My dads 140 is 12v with a generator, its always had electrical problems.

S/N 26801 to 57723 were 12 volt neg ground with a GENERATOR. S/N 57724 and above had a 10SI internal regulated Delco alternator.
