Does anyone know the best place to buy a 6 volt sealed beam light. I don't not need the complete light. Stieners did not have them as I can tell.

Thanks for your time

Todd

I need one also, one of the flat 1956 models that came on one of the Hundred series. Problem is that I have to buy the entire light including the backing and all I need is the bulb. The package is in the $80 range.

I know mine is the tear drop shape for a 1946 farmall bn. but the holder or what it is called in perfect and original.

OEM Tractor Parts in Illinois has them in their 2010 catalog listed as p/n 358893R92V6 for a 6 volt sealed beam light for $42. Their phone no. is 1-800-283-2122 if you want to contact them. I bought a couple for spares several years ago which were original IH parts still in the boxes from the classified ads on this site so they are out there, Hal.

Have you tried NAPA? I just bought 6 volt light bulbs for my IH H there. The bulbs were close to five dollars apiece but they do stock them.

Todd,
I do not think the tear drop shape was sealed beam, but had another name. The flat pancake type were sealed beam. I think I will try NAPA and see what I can do. If not, then it will have to be the $40 option. larry

You could also try Easy Bobs Tractor Parts Westfield,in. (888)560-1466 .They have both 6 volt & 12 volt sealed beam for a little over $48.00. they are higher than oem tractor parts.

The Guide "pancake" style sealed beam on 1953-1958 IH tractors is NOT the same as what you get at NAPA.

What you get at NAPA is a "Wagner 4511" style standard sealed beam.

Size and overall shape are CLOSE, but not quite.

You can shoehorn a standard 4511 bulb into an IH light housing, and even make it look good, but it won't be "correct."

However, the 4511 bulb is $10, and the original style is $45-$50... There are NO cheaper sources for the "correct" sealed beam. They are a custom item made in small quantities because only 1953-1958 IH tractors use them.

For $35-$40 per light, it may be worth it to you to figure out how to make the 4511 bulb work.

(quoted from post at 05:48:01 03/22/11) What does "Sealed beam" mean?

A sealed beam is one where the bulb, reflector, and lens are all one sealed unit. If you owned a car made before 1988, and had to change a headlight, this is the type of headlight it had.
