Farmall 450 tranmission filling.

OK, sorry for my probably not so smart question.

My Farmall 450 has 3 drain plugs for the tranmission. 2 relatively close to each other in the front and on big one in the back. My question is..

I only have to fill the tranmission in one loction? It looks to me that the inside has a few compartments, (I would assume that is why 3 drain plugs). Does just filling from the top, next to the the shifter fill all these compartments by overflowing into each other?

Thanks
Tony

That is the only fill hole.

The compartments are joined by holes, but the holes are not at the bottom of the reservoir. Without the three drain plugs you would not be able to get all the old oil out.

This may be so that a minimum amount of oil is maintained in two of the compartments, if the third was to develop a massive leak. Or it's simply because that was the only place they could put the holes in the casting.
