Thanks for all your help in indentifying what I have. I thought you guys might like to see a few pictures of a Farmall "A" block modified to accept a hydraulic pump.
My Super A apparently had serious engine trouble early in life and someone had a "A" block handy.
Someone went to a lot of trouble to get those gears meshed correctly or 50 years would have worn them slam out.
It reminds me a day when folks used what they had available.

That is awesome work. One of the things I like about the old machinery is looking at various old repair work. Some repairs are amazing and some aren't. I have an old pair of rear H hubs that were cracked at one time and then brazed back together. The braze has a more silver look than todays brazing rod.

Agreed about the craftsmanship, ingenuity and resourcefulness of some of these bygone repairmen.

I replaced rear axle bearings in a 504 years ago that had the center of the bull gear welded in place where it had apparently broken out. saw no reason to replace parts that had held up fine for years.
Uncle has an H with a clutch housing fabricated entirely of angle iron and sheet metal!

Always wonder what the story or circumstances were behind these and other repairs we see.
