I bought a 140 today. What year did IH start the 12 volt on 140s? Also what year did key start come out on them. One more It has a 1 point middle buster. It has a leaver on it to move the plow left or right. I had one on a cub like this once except it was not 1 point. Did they make a 1 point or is this a farmer make over.

Twelve volt systems started with S/N 26801 and key start began with S/N 45001. Check the S/N list on this site for corresponding year model. Can't help with the rest.

Tractorman was right on the money with the S/N"s, I do not see a 1 point Middle Buster in any of my books.Take a picture of it and send it to me at [email protected] and I will take a look.

You can also check serial # on Farmall 140"s at www.farmall140.com/farmall-140/serialnumbers/

There were 1-point middlebusters that fit your description. Whether that is what you have is another question.

Jim,
I thought that IH called the 1 point "Middle Buster" that angles left and right a "Potato Plow"? Could be wrong, I have a IH Potato Plow that fits the discription but that is much larger than a middle buster. I can take a picture if someone wants me to?

This is on a Cub and is not the Fast-Hitch version, but this is what IH called a middlebuster.

Thanks Jim for the clarification, I have always been told here in NC that was a Potato Plow...never seen anyone use it as a Middle Buster. Always seen the Middle Buster ran in between the front cultivator arms. Learn something everyday, thanks again!

Here is a picture of my used to be potato plow now it's a middle buster.
