C oil pressure

Are their any simple issues that cause low oil pressure in a C. I bought one yesterday that the gauge comes up a third of the way when you first start it and does down almost to the red when it gets warmed up. I assume that what is wrong is the engine is just tired and has wear but I thought maybe their might be a simple trick or common problem. The tractor came from a estate and has set for 3 or 4 years.

Thanks,
Denis

Change the oil first with some straight 30 weight oil and run it, then make some decisions. Lord knows what is in the crankcase now.

After that, there is a plate on the bottom of the oil pump that has a tendency to warp and leak some of your oil delivery. This can be removed and lapped flat, new gasket, and reassembled.

You could also just have a tired engine.

Pull the IHC gauge off and install a pressure gauge that goes up to 60 or 80 psi and see what value you truely have. If you are just gonna drive it around, you don't need much oil pressure. If it will be a working tractor, you might need some work done.

First thing I'd do is change the oil and filter. Could be the old oil is diluted with gas, etc. The oil may simply be too thin for the pump to hold pressure when it gets warmed up.

If no change swap the oil pressure gage for a known accurate gage and see what you get.

If pressure is still low then look at the oil pump. It could have a worn or warped bottom cover.

Beyond that you'll need to go deeper inside the engine for a fix.

Thats pretty much normal. If you are realy worried after you change oil and filter try a new guage. I dont see where you have anything to worry about. Tons of them are running around like yours.

Also check the bolt that holds the oil filter in place. It has a very
small hole in the side that can plug.

I just bought a 200 that would only run about 20 psi and fade down to 10. I dropped the
pan, cleaned everything up. I swapped the oil pump for a known
good one, replaced the filter and cleaned the hole in the side. I
had to use a drill bit to clear the filter bolt hole because it was
so solid. Added some fresh oil, fired it up and now oil pressure
runs 50-60 psi. I checked the old pump later and sure enough
the bottom cover was warped and the gasket was blown.

I got a heck of a deal on a Farmall 200 with fasthitch because the
previous owner didn't want to "rebuild the motor!"
