Took head off and found block cracked next to no. 1 and 2 cylinders. I see where water leaked into no. 2 cylinder and thus stuck motor. Can the block be welded to repair the cracks? Or, will jb weld work to seal the cracks? If all else fails, about how much does a good salvage block cost and where can I get one?

Some of the people that post on here have parts tractors. They may have a spare block. You can use engine blocks from the A, Super A, B, C's and Super C's. Probably from the 200 models too. Hal

JB weld does not do to well on block cracks that lead into seperate parts like sleeves.
A crack between cylinders can be tollerated if it is just that. I would look for a block from a SA, or SC to gain hydraulics. Jim

You can send it to a block repair place and they can weld and it will be good as new. Next would be a replacement used block. Sorry JB doesent work for your break.

Thanks for the advice. What do look for in a block repair place? A welding shop that specializes in cast?

A good engine shop might be able to do it. You might go to your local auto parts store and ask them. I would think that they might know a good shop in your area.

Is it an A or Super A. I would prefer the Super A. Would you be able to fed ex or ups? I live in northern New Mexico. Thanks

(quoted from post at 04:55:08 03/21/11) It's an A, you wouldn't be able to ship it UPS or FED EX. It's a complete motor so it's heavy.

You could do it Fed Ex for sure. You just pay more. UPS freight has a lighter upper limit than Fed Ex.
