Is it OK to jump a 6 volt system like a H tractor with a 12 volt system. If so is it done the same as if both systems were the same voltage . THANKS

There's mixed reactions to this question when it pops up but most of the time I would agree with no. The reason is there's a chance the 6 volt will blo up so I would say your better off getting a 6V charger

Jump to starter only, never impose 12 volts onto a 6 volt battery. If your 6 volt is totally dead and you have battery ign system you will need to figure a way to energize ign. Several methods would work but you need to have your thinking cap on so as not to energize back to the 6 volt system.

It may not be kosher, but we've done it many times, direct to the battery.

The trick is having someone running the cables, and someone on the seat of the dead tractor. Only connect just before you start cranking, and get it unhooked as soon as the tractor fires.

Also, don't pay attention to "hot" and "ground." Go by + and -.
