lifters F-20

working on a f-20 lifters are stuck. To get cam out must get lifters up.Pushing lifter up pushes sleve pushrod runs in up out of block. Many ???
The compartment this sleve is in is it dry, water ,oil??.Any and all help greatley appreciated. 2 of these lifters will not come out because of the oil pump housing! Can"t get this from a book need some one been ther done that! thanks Roger

Yeah, been there done that. push the lifters up, guides and all till you can get the cam out. Then use a rod to drive the lifters back down and out. The guides are just a tight fit, no sealing rings. You can't get the oil pump out either? yeah, the cam shaft needs to turn a little to let the gear out. I'f it's stuck you will have trouble.

I had some really stuck ones heated with torch and drove out bottom. You need to drive them up first so you can get the cam out. I actually ended up cutting a couple off so I could drive the tappet tube up out of block thenI could get enough heat on tube to drive the rest of tappet out.The part of the block yubes are in is basicly dry, will have some oil.
