Neighbor has a 340 the TA. is stuck in high.Is the tractor in for a split job to correct it?...thanks in advance...

What do you mean "stuck in high?" I've never heard of such a thing.

Does he pull the lever and nothing happens, or won't the lever move?

If the lever won't move, I'd suggest some PB Blaster on the pivot point, and/or maybe a little heat.

If the TA throwout bearing is destroyed, or the fingers on the TA lockup clutch, or the TA clutch disk is rusted to the TA housing or Pressure plate, or the ta internal planetary gears are broken and locked into a single unit from wedged gear teeth, the TA will act like it is alwys in direct. For sure it will require a split. The only possible non split solution is if the TA lever is stuck on its pivot point, or the TA linkage is completely gone or disassembled (obvious). Jim

Have to look in and see what happened. Might be lucky, lots of times a pin works out of the fingers so simple repair. Then again fingers and release bearing may be trash or plantery even locked up. Have to take a look from the top.
