F20 electric start?

There was never factory electric start for any F-20.There were however several aftermarket starter kits available.Hiesler was the most common.

I have a 39' f-20 and it has a starter on the lower left side of the bellhousing.also has an M carb, factory road gear in the trans, light bar and ammmeter like an M.Grandpa bought it used in the late 50's,and we havent touched anything on it except for tires and paint...

Tonight I visited a friend of a friends who has SEVERAL F20s, F30s, Fanythingyoucanimagine's and he had one F series tractor with what I'm 99.9% sure he said was factory starter and light, and was on rubber as well.

Examine the bell housing for an IHC stamp. You will NOT find one!
Some dealers installed an aftermarket starter but there were no IHC starters on a F-20.
F-20s with starters are kin to the HTA-they were made by somesone other than IHC.

Part of the problem that makes people swear they have an F20 that came from the factory with electric start is that the Heisler kit was an IH approved dealer add on. Many dealers were adding them to NEW F20's they still needed to sell. The conversions were done in IH dealer shops using IH generating components, light bars and lights from H's and M's. Imagine trying to sell a hand crank F20 with no lights sitting next to a new H or M factory equipped with starter and lights.

I have a later 38 with a starter on the right hand side. The only ones ive ever seen are always in the left hand side. any ideas?
